1. What is ISO Certification?
- On January 21, 2000, Roadway Express and its subsidiary, Reimer Express Lines Ltd. of Canada, received system-wide ISO Certification. This means Roadway's system-wide management and operation of the transport of customer goods from origin pickup to destination delivery meets the stringent, comprehensive, standardized and highly respected certification standards of the International Standards Organization (ISO). Roadway is the only national LTL carrier to receive system-wide ISO Certification. (Some other carriers have only had individual terminals or specific operations certified).
2. What is ISO?
- It is a comprehensive, and standardized measurement of an organization's commitment to the delivery of a quality product or service. ISO is the only universally recognized certification of a company's quality system. We have chosen to adopt the ISO standards as our quality system. Most of the elements of this system have been in place at Roadway for many years (though maybe informally), so we did not see major changes as we encompassed this system as ours.
3. Why is ISO Certification valuable to Roadway Express?
- For internal and external reasons. Internally, it is a way to keep our focus on quality. We all know what we are supposed to do to provide a quality product. We know we want to avoid shortages, damages, and service failures. We know we want to provide superior customer service. This quality model ensures that we have a documented process on how to do this, that we all understand it, and that we all are looking for compliance from each other. It brings quality back into focus for us. Externally, we are seeing more and more customers ask for ISO certification from their vendors. We will gain a competitive advantage over our competition if we are ISO certified.

- ISO certification is evidence that our operational efforts across our system are focused on exactly what is most valued by our customers: intact, reliable and consistent transportation services.
